            VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

 ADOPTION COUNSELOR

 Objective:  Introduce potential adopters to animals that will complement the family’s lifestyle

 Duties:

-Socialize and exercise adoption animals

-Maintain sanitary kennel environment by practicing good disease control techniques, this includes ensuring animals and kennels/cages are clean.

-Professional approach to handling the animals and dealing with the public

-Escort clients through adoption areas pointing out specific animals that may be suitable for their lifestyle

-Answer questions about each individual animal

 Training:

-Attend Volunteer Orientation

-Complete Volunteer Application

-Interview with Volunteer Coordinator

-Attend Dog Training Orientation

 Commitment:

“High” Any 2 – 4 hour time block per week during adoption hours

 Supervision:

Direct supervision by Volunteer Coordinator; Indirect supervision by the Veterinarian Technician
