Pins For Pets
Success!!!

The SPCA bowling fundraiser held at the Frontier Bowling Center in Lewiston on Saturday, April 24th was a fantastic success. The attendance, number of bowlers and amount of donations more than doubled over last year's event!! Event coordinator Kari McAlee organized this exciting event, bringing together SPCA employees, volunteers, Board members and the public for this enjoyable day of bowling and fun. Professional deejay Jeff Miller kindly offered his services to MC our event. Whiskers and Wags were in attendance and were quite a draw for the children, while the various basket and gift certificate raffles, along with the 50/50 split were a big attraction for the adults. Youngsters and adults alike were enchanted by the charming adoptable dogs and cats present that day!!
We would like to express
our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in making this event
the tremendous hit that it was. From our dedicated volunteers to the kind
hearted individuals who turned out to support us, from the generous
contributors of raffle items to the wonderful Frontier Bowling Lanes owner
and staff, we would like to say thank you and to stress that we could not
have done this without your help. We appreciate all of you!!!

Whiskers and Wags Visit The Mall

Our mascots spent
this past weekend greeting visitors at the Fashion Outlet Mall in front of
Tommy Bahama’s. Children were quite taken with the pair and with the sweet
treats they had on hand for the kids. Staff members were also on available
to answer questions regarding the shelter and to provide literature
promoting new SPCA programs and activities. We would like to thank Julie
Clark, for inviting us to appear at the Outlet Mall, and Dominic, who
allowed us to have our table outside of his exciting store!! Our
appreciation is also extended to Ragnar Rutenberg and Samantha Stoneham, the
faces behind our mascots for this event. As you can see in the pictures that
follow a great
time was had by all!!!

Inside our Mascot costumes above are two area students, Justin Leathers, a 10th grade student who attends Niagara Catholic, and Christopher Boryk, an 8th grade student who attends St. Andrews. They chose to fulfill a school project by generating donations for the SPCA in front of Sam's Club. They were a huge hit and collected a considerable amount for the SPCA animals!! What a great idea guys!!! 1/18/10
