Found as a stray. Pretty Nala had a pretty rough start in life!! She was only 45 pounds when she came to us. She had a bloody tail, mange, a skin infection, ear infections and had scars all over her beautiful face. She was in a terrible state of neglect. Even after 2 months of treatment she is still being treated for an eye infection. She is hoping someone will fall in love with her soon so she continue her recovery in a warm and caring home!! 5/8: The volunteers have found Nala will sit when asked and she loves to play fetch!!!
Found as a stray. She seems to be a mellow and pleasant girl. Her ears are prone to infection so her new family will need to be extra diligent in keeping her ears clean!!
Found as a stray. Large and strong boy who will need all training and plenty of exercise. Does pull very hard on his leash. He has a goofy and cheerful personality!!
Found as a stray. He will be a large boy, for he is already built like a tank. Social and happy puppy!!
Found as a stray. Poor little girl came to us with a broken right front leg. We heartily thank Gerber Small Animal Hospital for kindly fixing her leg. She had to wear a cast for awhile, and spent time at a wonderful foster home while she healed. Her cast is off now but her new family will need to make sure she takes it easy for the next two months: no rough play, she will need to be kept on a leash when outside and will need to be kept away from stairs. She is a cheerful and lively girl!!
Surrendered due to landlord would not allow. Cheerful and sociable boy who loves everyone he meets. He is an extremely strong boy who will need training, for he pulls you along for his walks. Unfortunately we do not know if he is housebroken or has had any previous training.
Found as a stray. She has an outgoing and pleasant personality. When she arrived we thought she may be pregnant. The vet determined she was not and that she had a litter of pups recently. We had her spayed while she was at the vet. She is now ready to enjoy her life with a loving family!!!
Found as a stray. She was in very poor shape when found. She was extremely underweight and had sores and calluses all over her and her tail was bloody. As if that was not enough, she was also suffering from mange, a bacterial skin infection and a double ear infection. It took a couple of months of treatments and tender loving care before she was well enough to be placed for adoption. She occasionally needs her tail bandaged, for when she sees people she wags her tail so much, and so hard, that she smacks it on the kennel wall and makes it bleed. Once she is adopted and away from the kennels this will no longer be an issue. Her sweet face is asking if you would please come and adopt her today!!
She weighs 54 pounds, 5/1/10.
Adopted in December & returned. Adopter states they could not handle him, he chews & he has soiled in the home. Said he has been crate trained, which is the method of choice for confinement for a dog left alone. This prevents a dog from chewing items that could injure him & from soiling in the home. When home, an owner must watch a new dog for these behaviors & teach the proper items to chew on & the proper place to relieve himself. New family will need to be willing to invest time to train a dog (which we ask for all our dogs)!!! Very sweet tempered & outgoing, he is ready for a home devoted to teach him basic manners!! He is not a fan of walking on leash & will need work with this. Training classes would be of great benefit for him & his new family!! Joshua attended one of our fundraisers & was very good with the children & other visitors. He did not jump up on anyone and had no accidents. With all the activity, noise & other dogs Joshua stayed calm and happy!!
Found as a stray. This gentle giant was so sad when he arrived. He was over 10 pounds underweight and had a severe flea allergy, mange and a skin infection that was making him miserable. He also had painful eye and ear infections. He is almost completely blind in his right eye and his new family will need to be careful not to startle him by approaching from his right side. After a couple months of treatment and love he is now ready for adoption. Sebastian likes to be "King of his castle" so he will need to be an only dog. He is waiting patiently for his new family to arrive!!
Surrendered due to her family has a new baby and is unable to give her the attention she is used to. She has been accustomed to children 8 years and up. Has been known to growl at cats and dogs that are smaller than her. If you have a dog, please make sure they meet before adopting. Is reported to be housebroken and to not chew household items. Her family taught her to sit, stay and come when called. She is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, lawn mower, fireworks and thunder. Does not enjoy having her nails trimmed. She loves her "Kong" toy. Her family reports she is very affectionate and cuddly. She wants constant attention and loves to be scratched behind the ears. Loves to go for walks. Was walked on a harness because she is very strong. Used to a fenced yard, she prefers not to be out alone.
Found as a stray. She was a sad girl when she arrived. Poor Gracie was very thin and was suffering from mange, a skin infection and a painful double ear infection. It took over 3 months of medicated baths and antibiotics to improve Gracie's condition enough to be able to place her for adoption. She is a sweet and affectionate girl. Will sit when asked. She has come to adore our caring staff but is tired of living at the shelter. She is looking for a family who will give her the love and care that she deserves!!
Surrendered due to owner could no longer care for them. Happy and friendly boys. Reported to be housebroken. They would be best in a home with no other dogs and no young children. The previous owner took the time to write wonderful profiles of each dogs habits, likes and dislikes, etc. Stop by the shelter to read more about their individual personalities. Be aware that Cocker Spaniels need regular groomings for their coats and regular ear cleanings to prevent infections. They are both a bit overweight and could benefit from some regular exercise and a diet. They have been together their entire lives so we will not separate them now. Are you ready for twice the love?
6/17/10: Check out the boys with their new haircuts, compliments of Kris at Pretty Baby Grooming? Aren't they handsome?
Surrendered due to owner could not care for. Enthusiastic and energetic dog. Strong girl who is happy to drag you along while she walks so she will definately need some basic training. Will sit when asked for treats. Has a great personality.
This bat-eared cutie was found as a stray. She appears to have had a rough start in life. It appears like she has had puppies and her tail has been broken in a couple places. Despite what she may have been through she is an outgoing and sweet girl who is hoping for a better life and a loving home!!
Found as a stray. Very friendly and social guy!!
Found as a stray. He can be quite "barky" when in his kennel but he just wants to come out!! Happy and cute, he has a bit of an underbite, which is normal for these small breeds. He has some hair loss on his back end from an allergy to fleas. He will need to always be on a flea preventative to prevent allergy related problems.
Found as a stray with Reba. Very sweet and friendly girls!!
Found as a stray with Dolly. Very sweet and friendly girls!! Reba is quite a bit overweight, which can cause serious health problems, especially with this breed. She will need a low calorie diet to take off this excess weight.
