Our Mission Statement and Philosophy

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Niagara, Inc. is a charitable community resource, dedicated to protecting and providing shelter and comfort to all animals in need.

The mission of the SPCA of Niagara, Inc. is to prevent cruelty to all animals, to help educate the public on the humane treatment of animals and to provide love and care for those companion animals with whom we come in contact.

We promote adoption and re-homing for abandoned and unwanted companion animals.  We promote humane treatment of all living things and work within the law to respond to and investigate all complaints of cruelty and neglect.

The SPCA of Niagara endeavors to eliminate cruelty and over-population.  We support the principle that no person has the right to cause pain and suffering to any living creature.

Our hard working and enthusiastic Board of Directors is dedicated to upholding the SPCA mission statement and bettering the lives of our homeless pets.

The Niagara County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was incorporated on March 14th, 1894, making it one of the oldest continually operating agencies on the Niagara Frontier

The papers of incorporation state that "the particular business and objects of the Society are to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the County of Niagara, in the State of New York and to enforce all laws which are now or may hereafter be enacted for the protection of animals and to secure, by lawful means, the arrest, conviction and punishment of all persons violating such laws."  The papers also set the number of trustees to manage the original Society at five.
