The SPCA of Niagara is a non-profit organization. We receive no funding from county, city, or state governments. Funding is provided through memberships, grants, bequests and private donations. Therefore, volunteers are vital to this organization and are regarded as ambassadors to represent the goals and mission of the shelter. We would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers for donating their time to make our homeless animals feel loved.

There are many ways to contribute to our organization. Please see a complete list of our Volunteer Positions to find out how you can help.

 HOW TO VOLUNTEER

Our volunteers are a key part of our organization. Therefore, it is important that every person volunteering for the SPCA of Niagara be well trained for the tasks they are asked to do and educated in the procedures that ensure our staff, volunteer and animals safety.

The following steps are required:

1)       Fill out this Initial Volunteer Survey and submit to A.Rinehart@niagaraspca.org, or you may drop it off at the shelter located at 2100 Lockport Road. You must be at least 18 years of age.

2)      You will be contacted by our Volunteer Coordinator and scheduled for a mandatory Volunteer Orientation generally held one evening per month at the shelter. Please print and review the Volunteer Handbook.

3)      Following this orientation, a Volunteer Application is completed. Further training will be scheduled depending on your area of interest.

4)      Please note that it can take 1-2 months to become an "official" volunteer once       you begin these training steps.

Thank You!

                                OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Even if you can’t make a long-term commitment to volunteering, there are other ways to support the SPCA of Niagara:

Wish list:  Organize a donation drive to collect supplies or funds for the shelter animals.

Foster:  Give a temporary home to orphaned, injured, ill or pregnant animals until they are ready to be placed up for adoption.

Adopt:  Give a deserving dog or cat a home.

Donate:  Donate food, toys, beds and treats to our deserving animals at the shelter.

Sponsor a Pet:  A monthly fee sponsors an animal of your choice in the shelter to be dedicated towards their care.
